So a lot of people usually have something they're really scared to try, like bungee jumping, sky diving, flying for the first time, etc etc.
For me, it's Sushi. I'M SO SCARED TO TRY IT, and I don't eve know why, I'm sure it's not even that bad, it's just the "raw fish" part that really puts me off.
I'm scared I'll go to eat it, and just be sick for days.
Can anybody tell me what Sushi is like? what's the texture like, how does it taste, does it need any kind of special sauce, what's the best kind? (I know there's loads of different sushi so I'd like the best one)
Because I really WANT to try it, but I dislike being sick.
Have any of you ever been scared to try something?

Thanks for reading.
Nothing to be afraid of, it actually does not taste like raw fish because it is usually served with soy sauce and japanese horseradish (wasabe) so it actually tastes like ... soy sauce and wasabe. And no you will not get ill, I regularly eat salmon sashimi meals (that is just the raw fish alone which you can eat with boiled rice) and have never had a problem.
ReplyDeleteNever had it, never will!
ReplyDeleteIts like soy sauce and wasabe sauce with rice. I've had it but I prefer raw red meat.
ReplyDeleteIt's delicious! If you are wary of raw meat/fish, maybe try some of the cooked chicken ones? It may not be 'proper' sushi, but it's a nice easy way into this new food.
ReplyDeleteAlso, don't try too much wasabi (that Japanese horseradish) because it's super hot (I mean REALLY HOT).
Hope that helps! :)
It's a great food, but it can be only for some peoples tastes. Maybe just try it once, because you have nothing to lose!
ReplyDeleteI don't like. That taste of soy... However it's a healthy food.
ReplyDeleteI'm with you, so afraid to try.
ReplyDeleteI don't meat (which includes fish) but I understand the phobia of certain foods part. My girlfriend love sushi, but she's very vague on descriptions so I doubt she'd be able to help explain it.
ReplyDeleteYou can't be afraid to try new things. It's a necessity in life
ReplyDeleteman, i'm the same way about sushi. fuck that
ReplyDeletei dont like fish but the do veg ones which are nice, perhaps work up from them to more adventerous ones :D
ReplyDeleteI'm with you on the sushi thing. Particularly now after the earth quake in Japan and the meltdown of the nuclear reactors. I'm also afraid of zebras and penguins (just kidding here).
ReplyDeletehahah, I've never been sacared to try any new food, but then again I started eatring weird things since I was little, probably a ratlesnake was the thing I was most scared off, just try the sushi, it's yummy :d
ReplyDeleteyeah, I'm not down for sushi either! I always order other dishes off the menu when my friends order that stuff. Nooooo thank you.
ReplyDeleteAnne's got a point. With the nuclear reactors gone haywire, I probably wouldn't risk eating any mutant fish in the near future.
ReplyDeleteDONT DO IT! >< all my friends LOVE sushi, tried it once, food poisoning. Brushed it off as a maybe it was just a thing so try again, throw up everywhere! ><
ReplyDeleteI didn't know it was raw fish until I ate almost one kilo of sushi. It tastes good. lol
ReplyDeleteConsidering the fact that the only Japanese thing in the average sushi restaurant in London is the television set (the waitresses are usually students from Taiwan or Malaysia, and the chef some bugger from Sheffield) I would think that the least of your worries would be mutant fish.
ReplyDeletei wouldnt try it either
ReplyDeletetaste good, you have to try it, +followed! :]
ReplyDeleteI've never had sushi, and I probably won't for a long time. Like you, I don't have a desire to sicken myself.
ReplyDeleteI know the feeling. There's always a little bit of nausia that I have when I'm about to eat sushi. There's a sushi restaurant next to where I live that has sushi and dubstep though, so I can never stay too far away. ;)
ReplyDeleteTouching a snake. That would just be too much.
ReplyDeleteagree with the snake
ReplyDeletei want sushi now :O. never had it but i think i'd like it...
ReplyDeleteI'd love to taste Sushi, but I never seem to get it.
ReplyDeleteWierdest culinary thing I've ever eaten was probably frog legs, it was delicious though.
I guess I'm most scared of, well I don't actually know, I used to be scared of heights but when I went down the almost vertical waterslide, so I guess I can't say that anymore.
I suppose water, I really don't like the idea of being trapped in the middle of the sea.
It's one of those things where you know you will probably die, either from some wierd fish or just from whatever else it can get you.
It's a bit intimidating at first, but once you take the dive and try out sushi, you'll come back again. Plus, the raw fish aspect is moot; as long as you go to a good, reputable sushi restaurant, you can be sure that the fish is safe (compare to the general dirtiness of most fast food places).
